About Recovery Insulation Ltd.
Recovery Insulation Ltd. (RI) is a social enterprise/for profit share capitol company established in 2002 by Schools & Homes Energy Education Project/Solar-Active with support from the Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit (SCEDU). We have had financial support from Business Link South Yorkshire High Growth Start-up, Enventure Landfill Tax Credit Scheme/Parkwood Environmental Fund, UK KTA/TSB grants and others.
Since 2002, we have been selling and distributing Inno-Therm®, a sustainable and environment friendly thermal/acoustic non-itch insulation made from recycled cotton/denim fibres. In November 2011 The Key Fund provided funding to establish RI as a social enterprise. As a social enterprise, we stand apart from other insulation companies in donating a proportion of our sales income to the education charity Schools & Homes Energy Education Project to conduct renewable energy and energy efficiency activities in educational establishments, youth groups and general public.
In April 2007, Inno-Therm® was featured in BBC series ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ and BBC / DIY/SOS in November 2010. It was selected in 2014 by Kevin McCloud as one of his 10 eco-innovation green heroes – exhibited at Grand Designs Live 3rd-11th May 2014. In February 2015 RI was shortlisted for the M&S/Eco Big Innovation Pitch Award and was provided a exhibition stand at Eco Build.
In July 2013, production of Inno-Therm® was transferred to Le Relais. RI offers in the UK and for export, Metisse® under the Inno-Therm® brand. RI is the UK agent for Le Relais to sell and distribute Metisse®.
Le Relais has worked for past 30 years with a social and solidarity focus. All profits are reinvested in the creation of sustainable jobs for excluded people. Le Relais has thus notably developed the industrial activity of textile collection / re-use – in which it is the French leader – and has invented an innovative social business model. It has also developed a robust business model sourcing, sorting, and processing cotton waste to produce a range of “Metisse” sustainable and environment friendly insulation products. Since 2000, Le Relais has been manufacturing acoustic and thermal insulation products and has been marketing them via a network of distributors specialized for professionals and individuals.
